KTN - Going Forward
hey there, been a while lol
KtN hasn't been abandoned (despite how it looks aha) and actually quite far from it. i decided to go for a different route for the future of the game, seeing as i'm a solo dev figuring out things as he goes along i feel like i have the excuse to change courses in the middle of the track, lol.
to get to the nitty gritty, i've been working on properly revising and editing my scripts without slapping it on the game the second i finish writing and then get into rewriting later on and be annoying. i've introduced a few new characters in early game (day 1 and day 0) and is now working on the continuation of the story in the dl, at the time of typing i'm on day -3.
i'm also planning on remaking the game from scratch in terms of it presentation, opting for a more mahoyo/tsukire inspired approach using closeups of sprites and backgrounds and messing around all kinds of camera angles and whatnot.
this includes new character designs and sprites as well, the initial sprites and designs of which, very much like the script, i just came up with on the spot and decided to slap them on the game. like i never drew a proper character sheet or anything, came up with the design and sprite at the same time and because of that the image of the characters in my head and the actual game differs quite a bit. so i'm also working on creating proper character sheets and shit for everyone.
another thing i learned is that how much consistency matters; since i made the sprites at random points in the life of the game, the quality and the style differs a lot from each other, to a pretty annoying extent. since i gave the main characters the priority over the side ones initially, the side characters look better drawn than the main ones lmao, especially the unused sprite of the main character sasaki shin'ya (kid) and arcelsher ao, like holy hell thats ass.
but yeah, a complete overhaul basically.
i could've updated the game as i went on but i honestly don't want anything nagging in the back of my head. i wanted a fresh start and take my time with it because this is a project i hold very dear. i know im probably talking to like 2 people or just 1 guy who care but hey, if you're still reading it's all worth it.
i have no idea when it would come out, but i can promise that i'm gonna grind hard on it.
i shilled it before but there's a KtN discord which is active-ish (we actually talk about type moon and other random shit) where i make updates i don't usually make on twitter or anywhere else. absolutely anyone's welcome to join and we'll be glad to have you.
consider this version of the game a prototype of whats to come in the future. ngl i don't fuckin recommend reading it this way personally but its up to you.
